More on Employee/Internal Communications
One thing that I found that was consistent throughout readings on employee engagement and internal commmunications was that the best way for employees to communicate with superiors or eachother was through face-to-face interaction. I found this to be refreshing and interesting because of how much technology we use today. Everyone is always sending out emails or text messages. It is a fast way to get in touch with someone but it leaves little to build a relationship upon. It is important for employee within the workplace to have relationships because it helps the company become stronger and more productive. If no one ever spoke in person to one another there would be no relationships except for knowing someone’s email address.

Hey Maggie!
I definitely think relationships can be formed without face-to-face communication. Think about chat rooms, the content of emails, or sites such as Eharmony. Their whole mission is centered around using the internet to bring people together. While relationships can be formed sans face-to-face interaction, I must agree with you to the extent that substantial relationships must be based on more than online interactions. For instance, people who meet in Eharmony will eventually end up meeting in person, and while you can prepare for a business meeting through emails, countless business people travel thousands of miles every day to make face-to-face interactions for important meetings. I think the physical relationship wherein two individuals are present and interact with one another is foundational and all other technology, such as emails and texts, serve to strengthen that original relationship.
